Anyone know of a link to descriptions of the various acronyms used for bullets and the bullets purpose. What weights/bullets work for what purpose, etc. While perusing catalogs and looking at bullets. I find myself becoming confused about the various types of bullets, their use, and which ones I should purchase and load for what. I'm most interested in the information so I can understand advice given and what I read.

Right now I have Ranier TMJ bullets and will go through them within the next month. I'm trying to plan my next order. I'm only loading 9mm & .45 right now. Rifle reloading is not in the near future.

I know FMJ means Full Metal Jacket and was a movie. :wink5:

Definitely a good start. Interestingly I just posted the same question on Handloads.com's forum. I didn't think to go to their home page first. Handloads explains the acronyms well. I'll check further on Wiki but I'm also looking for information regarding the various jobs each bullet is designed to perform, i.e. target, SD, etc.

I may have some more questions after reading and digesting those links.

Bullet "Initialisms"? Wow, leave it to Wikipedia to make up words.
