Maybe you just don't like basil. I think basil smells and tastes good. The smell is powerful, if there is a fresh basil plant in the room you know about it as soon as you walk in. Another thing is that a little goes a long way. I may only put a few leaves in a whole pot of spaghetti sauce. I also like it with fresh mozzerella in olive oil, Garlic, and salt.

you wouldn't happen to remember which basil you planted? there are several differing types. There are a few variants that are specifically ornamental as well.
yea its wikipedia but its a fair synopsis http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Basil

Eazy, before you buy a plant, pinch off a small, ripe (darker) leaf, roll it around between your fingers and take a sniff. Find the one that suits your tastes best, but it is a powerful herb, so a little goes a long way. One herb I've fallen in love with over the years is Rosemary. It goes great with most Q, is a nice plant that grows easily, and the fragrance is really nice as a fresh herb...you may want to try that one instead.

I do the taste test whenever I buy anything like that. Nothing worse than getting home and finding out the parsley you bought is actually cilantro. I also don't buy the herb uness it tastes good.
I also recently discovered rosemary. I started adding it to my pizza sauce last year and it gives it a real mellow flavor. Chive is also really good on chicken or prime rib.

Yeah, I know SD. I was jes refering to the aroma part the previous posts.
When I was gardening, I used ta pot herbs from seed and transplant. Same way with some vegetables. Pot 'em out from seed for pennies instead of paying hi-dollah for store bought plants.
Speak'n a gardens, anybody wanna buy a good TroyBilt tiller? I cain't use it any more.
Somebody need ta ask Eazy about my past garden adventures. He a tell ya.

I've already got the same exact tiller, but would have been interested if it was the reverse tine digger so the wife could handle it. On hard ground, it tends to want to walk off with the wife, where it's not as likely with my mass hanging on to it.

We go from Basil to a dreaded Troybuilt? The wife did up some of the Basil and it was pretty good on the food. The Troybuilt is designed to make teenagers work like a dog during the summer when they pose to be on vacation.

I have not witnessed/seen/heard of any American teenager that has been worked like a dog lately.
You?
Don't get me started.

Darned right I have.!
Nichole is one of the best hands we've ever had work for us. Maddy who worked for us last summer, worked her butt off. Maria worked for us a couple years back, she was good too. Kinda smart assed but she was from Texas so it was to be expected.
When I was surveying we'd get high school kids to cut brush in the summer, worked 'em like rented mules we did, most were good. Out of ten we only had one who wasn't worth keeping around.
