Scored some free cases in 223rem and 308win last week from a police shooting academy.

The 223 are FC stainless cases and in perfect condition.

The 308 are FC brass cases and have been shot with a Sig Semi-auto rifle.

Now, the particularity of that rifle is that while ejecting the spent case it is indenting it on one spot at least and sometimes even on two different spots.

For me this is not looking like a real issue but what is the general opinion here ? Reload or dispose ?

The cases are not splited nor punctured.

Size a couple and make sure that they will chamber in your rifle (IOW make sure that the origional chamber didn't over-expand the base).
If that checks out OK, than load away (the dents will pop right out upon firing).

The worst ones, and they can be reloaded 2-4 times, are the cases fired in a "fluted" chamber (roller locked HK's?)

The brass is "soft" in FC rifle cases. The 308 might be worse than 223 but both have problems even after the first firing. The primer pockets get very loose and don't hold primers well. Unfired FC cases work but don'tt last long. When reloading FC rifles case note the primer pockets and how well the primers seat.

I get those dents with my Saiga 308. I reload them a couple of times and then toss the brass.
