How about a New England roll call? I know we had some "locals" in that other site, and it would be nice to see how many made the migration.
I'm in southern New Hampshire near the Massachusetts border.

I used to live near the Maine and NH border. Five years ago I moved 28 miles south of Boston and about 7-8 north of Plymouth. Wish I was still up North sometimes.

I bet you don't wish that this winter! I'm not sure what the NH coastal area is like, but we still have snowpiles along the driveways and about 50% snow cover on the ground around here. :(

Most snow I've seen in years. I've got an electric fence around my bee hives up there and a few weeks ago when I fed my bees I walked OVER the fence to get to the hives. That should give you an idea how deep the snow was. One of my friends told me last night the ground is finally starting to show itself in places. First week of May we'll be canoeing one certain river. Can't wait.

Welcome, dfk! Its an honor to have your first GP post being in our little roll-call thread. To make sure everyone gets to know you, though, how about putting an intro blurb into the "Introduce yourself" section as well?
Whereabouts in Southern Maine are you? I was just in Kittery yesterday (Trading Post, of course!).
By the way, a general heads-up to the New Englanders. Yesterday's snow pushed New Hampshire into the #2 all-time winter snowfall exceeded only by one winter way back in the 1890 decade. How about the rest of your areas - any all-time or near all-time records this winter?

Down here in SW CT we always seemed to be on the rain side of the storm fronts. Only had to shovel snow three or four times and even that got washed away in a few days.

Lucky you! I thought I wasn't going to have to deal with any shoveling in this storm (just 3 or 4 inches, warm weather on the way...), but then I heard the snowplow come by earlier and so there is a foot+ pile of packed snow at the end of my driveway. Hopefully this will be the last time I'll get to "enjoy" shoveling this year.
And, of course with Murphy's Law, a record-setting year around here is the one in which my snowblower died. :cryin:

Hey, my brother lives in Durham. Anyway, sure, North Carolina must be close to New Hampshire if they are that close on the map. Must be, what, a 30 minute drive or so from one to the other? :driving: Besides, there are only three states between us -- alphabetically, that is. :biggrinjester:

Craig....do you shoot any IDPA up there?
craig110

I wish. Our range's IDPA practice is on Thursday evenings which is when, except for a few months in the summer, I have church choir practice. I go to the IDPA practices when I can over the summer, but I'm not there enough to be ready for IDPA shoots.

Any other New Englanders on GP who haven't checked in here yet? Let us know that you're around and maybe we can get some group things going up here!

Jawja, you can't owe me a gift! If you send it, I'll appreciate your generosity. If you don't, I'll just figure that you're busy building Granny's watch tower and not give it a second thought.

New Hampshire resident present and accounted for! Born n' raised in NH, currently living in MA, and I've spent many hot, rainy summers in VT.
Jawja, I surely do love encountering other Pogophiles. :) In fact, my cat is named after that very possum! If you see any possums or gators wandering around, or fancy French skunks, tip your hat to them for me, alright?

I may have been literally raised in the Northeast, but I always daydreamed about living in the Okefenokee swamp. In fact, my mother did too...she wrote a letter to Walt Kelly when she was jes' a tadpole, and he sent her back a bona-fide hand-drawn strip! I think it's still framed somewhere in her childhood home. I may have to pay a visit sometime and see if it's still there. :)
And of course, being an illustrator, I draw a lot of influence from Mr. Kelly. I consider it a great misfortune that he died before I was even born (God bless his illustratin' soul).
