Most people think that Elk tastes closer to beef. The ones that I've tried still had the "density" like venison with less of the gamey taste that some people don't like. I personally wouldn't turn elk or venison away. A goodly portion of the meat that the wife and I consume is venison.

In my opinion it is. The fat is edible unlike deer, but there is almost none. Elk will graze given the option whereas deer will nibble on forbs and my roses and Mrs. Zdog's garden. Of course if you get an elk in the garden things really get tore up. They show up in the woodlot to the South and to the West of our place once in a while. None have been stupid enough to get in the garden----yet.

I think Elk tastes closer to bison than Beef, not that they are that far apart. Without the after taste that beef has. I prefer it over beef, I even prefer it over Bison.

Very true, but more people have commonly ate beef compared to bison. That's why I compared it to beef.
