I was reading the GSSF rule book some the other night.

My freakin eyes glazed over. Is there really that big a need to set out how you sign up to shoot a stage? Geez....I thought I was gonna get a proceedural just for failing to sign up juuuust right.

Don't get me wrong, I am getting ready to start my membership as I was asked to SO at the match being hosted in November at SWGC.

I was just starting to read the rules so I can be well up to speed by the time it comes around.

Lots to learn about divisions too.

What kind of penalties are the most earned by shooters?

I've RO'ed a half a dozen matches and can't remember ever giving a penalty; though I may just be a softie.

Ive shot a couple matches, everyone is real nice and helpful. They will make sure you get signed up just right. Just focus on accuracy

guess it all depends on how long you want to wait in line to shoot after you get to the match. it is important to sign all the sheets at each stage and to X your name when you're ready to shoot.

I'm not really worried about the shooting aspect of this match. I'm going more for helping out a buddy by being a safety officer.

If I shoot good, that's icing on the cake.

I hear you ede. I guess I was tired when I was reading it, and lost the flow of what to do.

It'll all be simple enough.

Looking at the courses of fire, it looked like there would be almost no opportunity for penalties.....except for shouting more rounds than specified or out of order if there is an order.

Most people get mixed up in the Glock M. There is no order but people forget what they've shot going from the paper to the poppers or vice versa. Then you have a good chance of putting too many shots on paper and getting a penalty.

The courses of fire look really great.

I was going over the "M" in my mind's eye the other night on how I would shoot it. There's a nice progression to it....kinda.

On GLOCK"M the way I do it is to sweep it. Left to Right and just remember 2 shots paper, one shot steel on each COF. There are 6 different course layouts that can be used at a match.

Good Luck and Have Fun

i've gave procedurals for NDs, should of DQed him and let the match director sort it out. gave procedurals for firing too many rounds, common mistake in MSub class. i have also seem some careless handeling of firearms.

a competitor load and SHOOT 17 rounds at ONE rack of plates. (60 penalty points)

I have seen people shoot all three poppers in 1 round of the M.(20 penalty points)

Don't count on the M looking like one set up that you have drilled into memory.

See how it's set up them decide out how to shoot it.

The same thing goes for the 5 to Glock.

yeah i've seen a shooter take out all 3 poppers, but the RO didn't explain the COF very well to cause the mix up.

edit: GSSF has cheat sheets made up to cover the basics about eachclass and what glock is legal for each class. might be a good idea for the MD to ask that they make sure they bring them.
