I live in an apartment, and I do not have a patio...but I do a little bit of grilling on (Burgers and hotdogs) on a small $30 job that I leave near the side of our apartment. It is clean and works well enough for that, but what if I want to step up and get something a little more? What are my options?
Ideas?
The only constrants is that it has to be portable, not exactly a desireable object to steal (we have a low, low crime rate, but don't want to chance it) and easy to clean and care for...with the most versatility. Oh yeah, and under $150.
Thanks,

I like the ones with lots of gold and diamonds. The rappers' girlfriends love my grill.
But my favorite is just a Webber kettle grill. Can't beat charcoal.

Yep, I like the kettle style also. They have some very small "table top" sizes that work well if you want a small one.

I would agree with the Weber kettle grill. You can grill and bbq on it. Easily portable and the quality is outstanding. The Weber will out last the cheaper grills by years.
However if you want to BBQ more than grill you might consider adding a few bucks and getting the Weber Smokey Mountian.
Don't waste your money on any gas grill that costs less than $500. The minimum gas grill I would suggest is the low end Weber. There are some great gas grills but they are expensive. They also don't give that good old charcoal grilling taste.

I would be more interested in BBQing than grilling per se.
Is BBQing time intensive when compared to grilling?

Much slower. The slower you cook it, the better it is.

Looks like the wife wants one of these-

I do not exactly like the idea, but it is small eoungh for our little family of three and we ca store it inside and out of the way. Plus it is a step up from what we have now and we can take it camping.
Whatcha think?

I've never seen or used one before. Except for storing inside this would probably be better. http://www.shopperschoice.com/item_name_Weber-10020-Smokey-Joe-Silver-14-5-Inch-Charcoal-Grill_path__item_477.html
FYI*
Grilling is cooking hamburgers, hot dogs, steaks, etc. directly over a hot fire. The meat is generally seared.
BBQ is cooking ribs, brisket, pork butt, whole chicken at temperatures usually below 275º using charcoal and or wood to provide smoke flavor. This can be done offset using indirect heat or over direct heat but the distance between the fire and the meat is much greater. This can take 2-4 hours for chickens and up to 18 hours for brisket.
*This is brief general difference.

The Smoky Joe is a good grill and will serve to do maybe 4 burgers or steaks. The draw back is that it's too small to BBQ with any efficiency and you have to bend over way too much to use it. would be a better deal in my opinion, and in truth I'll buy a 22 1/2" dia. Weber this summer. I can and have turned out some damned fine ribs on a Weber but I've got a couple rigs I made out of 80 gallon pressure tanks that fill that purpose now and a converted 55 gallon drum for grilling fish or pretty much anything for a big crowd. If I'm doing a big event I can make one for about $25 and will make as many as it takes to get the fish cooked and out at a fixed time.

Weber Smokey Joe
It is a little under $30 but a great grill for two or three people. I have several.

Or even this....

I've used electric and gas grills and found the only grill I reall like is a charcoal smoker type grill similar to this one. Keep a couple on hand and you can feed a crew.

Build one of these. Works great, and it's too heavy to steal!
