The second stamp finally found its way back from the ATF last week so I was able to pick up the rest of my Mac10 stuff yesterday while I was in Atlanta.
Thought I would be able to wait uyntil the weekend, but caved and made it out to the range a little after 7 tonight to turn some money into smoke, noise, and dirty brass.
A few minutes later i had 400+/- soot covered cases and a grin on my face.

It's a MAC, it'll eat anything.
You loading those with Unique or 231?

I'm envious. No NFA in IA sucks.
If I make it to GA with some ammo and a tithe of boolits this summer would you be willing to take me on a range trip?

my opinion, and i don't play a lawyer on tv.
Heller decision won't change NFA; check his attorney's response to the machine gun question. Not asking for it, in fact avoiding that issue all together to keep ruling narrow and therefore easier to lose.
I listened to the whole session - guntalk's podcast had it up. Recommended, I have little doubt it will be a huge win for "2nd applies to individuals", but hold absolutely no expectation that the court will give more than it is being asked for and take down NFA- it just isn't in the case. Maybe sets the stage for challenging the NFA act down the road, but would not hold my breath for anything soon.

I know, we had this discussion just recently, in another thread. The NFA has been challenged in court several times and has stood the test of time. A very, very well and cleverly crafted piece of legistlation.
I do however, believe, notwithstand Gura's response (I read that and listened to oral arguments on March 18/19), that 922(o), will be challenged in the future. 922(o) is nothing more than a federal version of DC's law. The NFA will stand, but, new MGs will be able to registered.
Besides, there's something about having the ability to kill something at 1000-1500 yds that fasinates me. I'm going to work on the long range project over the next 3 years, I need to burn the barrel out of a factory action. I may be able to do a subgun and the long range project concurrently.

Damn, no MAC10s allowed in MD. Oh well, I have too many dream guns/projects before I need to worry about doing that anyway. Looks like a fun toy...looks like it could eat through your wallet faster than Slick pick a wheel weight off the ground though...

With all of the options now available for the M10 and M11 that make it more shootable I may have to start thinking about one myself. It's the only NFA sub gun some one can reasonably purchase and shoot. It's to bad we can't aquire some of the newer system's now for personal use.

I'm working on burning out the barrel on my 700 so that I can put something different on it. Right now my vs stock has the butt chopped so that I can cast a lead slug for the cavity, but in reality I am going to end up replacing it with a McMillan stock or similar. I imagine that it won't be long until the only thing on there factory will be the action.
That said, if I was going to start over I would probably start with a howa action. It is very unfortunate that that company cannot legally produce rifles for the military market here in the US.
I have a friend working on a 6.5 Grendel that I am waiting to see how it turns out. I know how you feel about the AR platform, but I think that 6.5 Grendel AR could be a hell of a setup.
In short, I have found that it is easier to go in on the buddy's coattails and see what works. After shooting what he ends up with I can spend my few coins more wisely.

Full autos are a great way to wreck a big pile of bullets fast.
But my range bag is always easier to tote home.

Nice holster. What width belt holds that up? Do you carry that IWB or OWB?
I may be in GA soon... I usually visit once a year. Down around the Eastman area.

All the issues I initially had with it were caused by one little kinked spring in the trigger group. That was the entire problem. I swapped it out with one from a parts kit and the old Thompson hasn't had a single hiccup since.
Otherwise I think it is the most amazing gun I'll ever own, and I'm still tickled pink when I shoot it/ hold it/ clean it/ look at it/ look at pictures of it/ watch my friends shoot it/ watch their chubby girlfriends shoot it/ etc.

blueline, I've only shot one Thompson, it was an M1A, sweet. I've mostly made empty brass with MP5's, Colt 9mm sub's and Berretta's but did shoot a Glock 18.

It has definately added to my stockpile of .45 brass. I let my buddies shoot it all they want/can afford and they let me keep the brass. Same thing with the uzi.

I like that trick. You reload thousands of rounds yet they all go missing when friends come to shoot. Mo brass! mo brass!
