I really enjoy this red stuff a couple of y'all have sent me, but I'm about to put a serious dent in my current supply. Because of the generosity of several board members I've never had to buy lube before. Any suggestions for price and online retailers?

I'm going to mix up some cohutt brand Felix lube for the next batch of 45 I cast and run through the sizer.

I have all the ingredients just haven't gotten around to it yet. I guess I should cast some more boolits too eh?

I was given a bunch of beeswax for my birthday, so I will probably have to start playing around with making lube someday. I just gotta do some research and find something hard that doesn't migrate or flake out of grooves. I am interested to hear what you have to say after you have mixed up some Felix.

Read the felix lube stickies on Cast Boolits - basic formulas given but a lot of "Why i liked/didn't like this formula" feedback

I think the flaking comes from too much paraffin wax (regular candle wax) in the mix.

I'll let you know if i ever get off my arse and do something with it.

A friend of mine uses Felix lube he made up, doesent require any heat to flow so that may be a big problem for anything commercial.

Great lube though, I dont know anyone thats used it that didnt like the stuff.
Vary the recipe a bit to get something harder and you may have it.

Lots of good lubes out there, probably 95% work great.

I know another guy that uses Johnsons wax, straight, and he is really happy with it.

As soon as you send me some lead, a flame resistant suit as shown above, 50 foot tongs, a team of robotic servants with controls in an underground bunker located at least 100 feet from the pot, paramedics standing by, the local hospital on red alert, four fire trucks at the ready, and two fire retardant planes flying overhead.

Fixed it for ya.

Let's see, you make a major screw-up, come on this particular forum, advertise what you did and wonder why you can't live it down. You aren't the brightest bulb on the tree. Do you really think we'll EVER let you live it down?

Have you checked Ebay? I know White Label Lube (Lar's) has sold his lubes there before.

If you have any extra you don't need I'll gladly buy from you. If not, that's cool too.

The LLRs is so cheap & a good product, making your own seems pointless unless you have free components. I have tried, jus to see what I could get & it was successful, but the cost is greater than buying them from LLRs. The Carnuba is perfect w/ a bit of heat & the BAC for no heater.

Felix Lube works great for me, but my cast bullet shooting isn't really esoteric, either. My handgun loads seldom exceed 1500 FPS, and rifle stuff almost never exceeds 2000 FPS. Either Felix or NRA 50/50 Alox does well under such conditions, even with smallbores like 223 and 243.

It is when you start running castings past 2200 FPS that lube characteristics and casting integrity really start to seperate the groupies from the rock stars. I'm no rock star, mostly because I'm an indolent retired barstad. And the big hair from the 80s poses a fire hazard while casting.
