Reloading tip for reloading .223 on a Dillon 550
Was going to buy the .223 Dillion Conversion Kit for my 550 when after doing some research I discovered that the 550 Dillon Conversion Kit for 380 ACP uses the same shellplate #3 and locator buttons #3 that .223 Remmington uses. So you can save some money and reload both 380 ACP and .223 Remmington with the same conversion kit. The kit numbers are different but the componet numbers are the same. You just have to buy the "A" powder funnel for the .223.
380 ACP Kit # 20133 Shellplate 3-13684 Locator buttons 3-14060 .223 Remmington Kit #21028 Shellplate 3-13684 Locator buttons 3-14060 |

Always pays to look the chart over before buyin a kit. I hates to think I'm harborin' the means to manufacture 9mm Kurtz...

I think he means if ya already have one of the calibers?
The 550 manual lists everything that will interchange as well Of course then I would have to buy a 380 |

I already have a 380 conversion kit that I can use to reload .223. I don't have to buy a .223 conversion kit. All I have to buy is the $10 powder funnel "A". You are welcome to spend $45 for the .223 conversion kit if you want to. That is how you save some money. The shell plate and buttons are the same for both calibers. Don't you understand?

I didn't realize you already had the .380 kit. I just thought all this was common knowledge. I did the same thing when I needed to get my 10mm conversion. I just bought the proper funnel and buttons. It uses the same shellplate as the 9mm.

That's good info. Anyone know if I could get away with a #5 shell plate and #2 locator buttons to do .223?

Nope. #5 plate won't hold in the groove well enough.
You could prolly make it work, if dats all ya had (as in TSHTF wasteland survivor), but it a be real slow with some issues with trashin some brass now an again.

Well your screwed now. The LCT is a good reliable press. She won't see you cussing and angry at the machine so you are going to have a real hard time convincing her you want a Dillon/LnL in the future. I would suggest finding a used LM just so you can cuss and curse at something new if/when you want a faster machine.

Got that 550 on advice from Slick. It's a great press. I've loaded many thousand rounds on it since then.

If you are like me and load 40 S&W and by a 9mm, all you need are lew locator bottons and a powder funnel. $12 from Dillon. If you need to load 357 Sig after that, you have all the pieces. Just by dies. 357 SIG is the 40 S&W shellplate and locators with a 9mm powder funnel.
